B&B Renovations We are just beginning our long journey in this area. Our goal is to create a Bed & Breakfast experience rich in country charm, casual elegance and unsurpassed hospitality. We aim to create a warm atmosphere rich in the combined love of experiencing the great outdoors and an appreciation of beautiful artwork. |
| Summer 2003 Projects We concentrated on the complete renovation of the 3 one-bedroom efficiencies, they are now ready for the 2004 season. We are very pleased with the outcome and think everyone will enjoy the new interiors and modern amenities. They still boast beautiful knotty pine interiors and cozy front porches - but most will appreciate the completely remodeled bathrooms and kitchens. Summer 2004 Projects - We have a very ambitious summer in front of us. First off, we will be ripping apart and restoring the front porch on the main house. We will restore it back to its original country Victorian style - with railings, spandrels and decorative brackets. Incorporated into this project will be the replacing of some sliding glass doors with more efficient and aesthetic decorative windows. Plans to combine 2 windows on the south side into an angled bay window (with window seat inside) are in the negotiating phase(between Bob & I). We are planning to put on a new roof and paint the entire main building, adding some decorative accents. Our new color scheme will be Fawn Beige, with Hunter Green and Burgundy accent colors (similar to the new paint job on the efficiencies, they were our testing grounds). |
| B&B Future Aspirations We will have to renovate and completely convert the house to accommodate the Bed & Breakfast. The plan is to have 4 oversized guest rooms all with private baths (some with whirlpool tubs) and one 2-room suite, with fireplace and whirlpool. Our hope is to have a couple of the rooms available for the 2005 season, but we figure that problems and delays will arise and push that opening date to June 2006 - but we are keeping our fingers crossed! To help create and explore your love of the great outdoors and promote the appreciation and creation of beautiful artwork - workshops will be offered. The hands on workshops will be conducted in the Spring and Fall highlighting different artists and craftsmen working within their specific medium -the artists will be from the local community as well as artists visiting in residence. Renew and rejuvenate weekends and other speciality weekends will be organized. Outdoor Experiences * Promote and encourage the enjoyment of our beautiful park, offering unlimited information, resources and guidance to plan outings for all abilities and interests. (See things to do & outdoor activities pages for extensive information) * Provide free of charge, canoes and kayaks that can be launched directly from our beach or shuttled up river for a full day of adventure. Also, supply extra backpacks and other necessary and/or forgotten gear. Workshops * Art Workshops - Various types and styles of art and mediums will be offered. Such as watercolor painting, using oils, pottery & ceramics, stained glass, drawing - using charcoals and pastels, sculpting - including molding and final casting. * Renew & Rejuvenate weekends - For woman only, get away from the everyday stress and strain and pamper yourself - bring your friends or come to meet new ones. | History of Inn |
| This circa 1880's farmhouse has undergone many changes over the years. The side and rear annexes were added in the 1890's and the efficiency building was 6 motel units added in the 1950's. Around 1978, the rooms were combined and the existing 3 one-bedroom efficiencies were created. They went unchanged and pretty neglected until we purchased the property in July 2003 - they have since had a complete overhaul. It was operated as an Inn by the Bogel family from the Mid 1950's - Mid 1970's. From 1976 to 1993 the Guyer family owned the property and made numerous changes and conversions. Mr. Guyer was an industrious sort and we have been entertained by numerous stories of donuts being made in the house and distributed all around the area, also the operations of a Photography Studio, Beauty Parlor and a Real Estate Office. During the 1990's it had been operated briefly as Bob & Peg's Rental Efficiencies, but for the most part was converted over to year round apartments. This didn't work out well and the building was vacant in recent years. Bob and Patti purchased the Inn, July of 2003 Bob had just returned home from the war in Iraq and we were looking to create a new direction for our future. The Inn has had a long lodging history of providing accommodations options other than a standard hotel or motel. |
