Bike Trails
In the Schroon Lake Vicinity

Lake Loop - This is a paved 21 mile loop along Route 9, that circles completely
around Schroon Lake. If you travel north on the east side of the lake, there are gorgeous
views of the majestic High Peaks to the North and then you travel through a dense
mature wilderness forest. On the west side of the lake, you will be skirting the lake the
entire trip. There are two opportunities to get supplies or have lunch, the Village of
Schroon Lake (North End) and the general store in the town of Adirondack (South End).

North Hudson Mountain Bike Area

The town of North Hudson in 2004 has groomed and dedicated many miles of off road
trails through the Hammond Pond Wilderness Area. There are trails for all levels of
experience, you can wind your way through mature forests and most lead to beautiful
mountain ponds ~ bring that fishing gear!
We have maps of this area in our offices at the Inn for your use.

Camp Santanoni
This well preserved Adirondack Great Camp was donated by the Pryne family to the
state park system and has recently been opened to the public. In Newcomb you will find
many entrance buildings and barns, after about 2 miles you will reach the farming complex
and then located 4.1 miles from the entrance is the amazing Great Camp itself. Park
rangers are on hand to give guided tours of the surrounding structures, plus you can enjoy
the grounds and a pristine mountain lake.

The catch ~ absolutely no motorized vehicles beyond the entrance. You either have to
hike, bike, or ride a horse in ~ 8 miles round trip. This is an obstacle for many and has
resulted in a beautiful uncrowded mountain experience for the willing!
